ENGLISH RECONSTITUTED STONE LIONS Description: A true pair of fine early 20th century English reconstituted stone lions standing in a classic pose with one front paw resting on top of a ball. With conforming rectangular bases. The lions are modeled after the well-recognized Medici lions in Florence, Italy. The Medici family, after acquiring the original 2nd century lion, commissioned the sculptor Flaminio Vacca in 1590 to create an opposing copy. Both are now standing in the Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence.
