ENGLISH CAST IRON URN BY HANDYSIDE

Description:
Late 19th century English cast iron urn of classic campana form featuring open loop and mask handles with festoon swags on the bowl. Absolutely wonderful color! Would make a stunning centerpiece to your outdoor garden table!

The urn is attributed to the Andrew Handyside foundry of Derbyshire England, originally established as Britannia Iron Works in 1817 and subsequently taken over by Andrew Handyside in 1847 which began a period of wide recognition for the quality of its castings. Their designs for garden ornament primarily focused on classical forms. However, business fortunes started to change as the firm entered the 20th century and in 1931 they closed their doors forever.
