LARGE CONTINENTAL CAST IRON URN ON STONE BASE Description: A truly grand 19th century French or possibly Belgium cast iron urn in an unusually large size on multi-section carved stone base. Featuring mask and loop handles, a trailing grape vine frieze, deeply gadrooned bowl and acanthus leaf socle all in a wonderful old blue/green surface with traces of original gold highlights. The urn may not be original to the base but both have been together for many years being recently removed from an estate in Bruges. Although not signed this piece demonstrates the workmanship and artistry of an extremely high quality 19th century foundry.
