A fine 19th century figure of a young man in classical dress shown holding a sickle close to his side, and a rake in his opposing hand, his gaze fixed in the distance. Circa: 1865-1875
After the original design by Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912) the figure is referred to as "Allegory of Summer". It is attributed to the renown Val D'Osne foundry which was established by Jean Pierre Andre Victor in 1835. With workshops in both Val D'Osne and Paris the foundry attained prominence with its innovations in cast iron techniques setting new standards for decorative and sculptural work
