ENGLISH AESTHETIC MOVEMENT BENCH

Description:
This early 20th century garden bench exhibits exceptional detail, with the back panel of handsome stylized sunflowers each surrounded by a series of four oval cartouches. With tightly rolled arms, slatted iron seat and pad feet the bench is quite sturdy and very much in the style and spirit of an earlier model by the Coalbrookdale Foundry, Shropshire, England, the original designed by Christopher Dresser.

A wonderful mottled surface has developed over many years of outdoor use. Circa 1890-1910 See: Cast Iron Furniture, Georg Himmelheber, Wilson Publishers (1966) page 202
