19th CENTURY ENGLISH BOOT SCRAPER IN STONE

Description:
An impressive English Mid-19th century cast iron boot scraper with opposing griffins centered by a shell motif and set in a substantial block of natural stone. One side of the top ridge is cast with the name: W. Bullock & Co.

The William Bullock and Company, Spon Lane Iron Foundry was founded in 1805 in West Bromwich and made a range of goods including, boot scrapers, door knockers, mail boxes and religious items for churches. In 1885 the firm was sold to another foundry and stopped producing under the Bullock name.
