French Faux Bois Garden Seat |
Description: |
|
Rustic French faux bois bench found in the south of France.
All of the components of this wonderful garden seat are sculpted to resemble natural tree branched or sawn wood.
Circa: 1950
Faux Bois as an art form developed in France well over a century ago and was derived from the naturalistic style of design that was finding increasing popularity at the time.
In creating items of faux bois, no molds, stamps, forms or other casting methods are used, rather, just a few simple tools by the artist himself.
The concrete mixture is hand applied on successive layers over a metal armature and must be worked while curing. This painstaking process often requires many long hours of work.
