Stoneware Seat |
Description: |
|
A late 19th century garden seat taking the form of a tree trunk with branches that serve as planters. The rustic surface simulates bark. Probably Scottish.
Rustic furniture first appeared in Europe in the mid-eighteenth century in chair designs for arbors and gazebos in landscaped gardens. The design elements of roots and branches blended perfectly with the environment.
