A very fine pair of late 19th century hand carved marble dogs from an estate in the Hudson River Valley area of New York State. Believed to be German Short-Hair Pointers, they are shown seated with alert expressions as they stare into the distance. The overall anatomical detail of the pair is quite exceptional. Their heads are extremely well modeled and there is excellent definition in the body, ribs and spine, as well as remarkable detail in the paws. Circa: 1890-1900.
