French 19th Century Iron Statue "Aurore"

An elegant and graceful cast iron statue of Aurora the goddess of the dawn with flowing tresses, her raised arm holds a torch as she ushers in the day standing on a crescent moon surrounded by clouds. Designed by Mathurin Moreau, and attributed to the celebrated French foundry Val d’Osne; “Aurore” appears in the firm’s 1882, catalog.

Circa: 1880

Condition: Very small section at the bottom of the base replaced, weathered surface consistent with age and outdoor use.
